  • ·Music therapy can increase joy!

Stroke

  • I have had the privilege of co-treating with physical and occupational therapists during my time in medical music therapy. Through adaptive devices and specific techniques, stroke survivors can experience gains in non-music goals such as improved breath support, speech and language skills, gross and fine motor work, concentration and communication

Senior Living

  • Group sessions at senior living facilities encourage socialization, participation, age related memory improvement, elevated mood and so much more. Music provides an outlet for emotions and reduces anxiety and loneliness. Sessions improve overall health and wellness.

Developmental Disabilities

  • Common goals with youth and adults with developmental disabilities include increased attention, improved motor skills, speech and language skill building, sensory stimulation and more.

  • Group sessions also bring about cooperation and self regulation

  • This population has so much fun and the benefits are immediate and joyful!

Home Care and Hospice

  • Hospice care is especially meaningful for me because I did my internship in this area and I will never forget the profound effect music therapy has on families navigating end of life care

  • These sessions can bring about emotional expression, processing of anticipatory grief, positive life review, acceptance of the natural experience of end of life issues, and leaving a legacy through song writing and recording for family members to cherish.

  • This is a sacred time and the experience I was fortunate enough to gain in this area can provide comfort and peace during this difficult process.

Professional settings

  • The modern workplace can be a stressful environment. Music Therapy sessions can provide practice in mindfulness and anxiety reduction. Participants will learn how to use music and breathing techniques as tools for calming and emotional regulation during elevated situations that inevitably come up in a professional setting.

What Clients Say

Jan R., Hoover

"From the first time I spoke with Allison, I knew she was the one to work with my husband. Her manner of kindness, understanding and professionalism assured me that she was the right fit for us. I was so convinced that I booked an appointment right away. When she came to my house, I began to hear my husband sing and laugh and I had not heard that in a long time. I knew then that God had sent us just the right person."
